Privacy overview

  • We collect information you choose to provide through forms, comments, ratings, and reviews.
  • Technical information may be processed to deliver the website, prevent abuse, diagnose problems, and maintain security.
  • We do not sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Public review and comment content may remain visible until it is removed or anonymized.
  • You may contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or another applicable privacy right.

1. Information you provide directly

You may provide personal information when you contact the editorial team, submit a correction, leave a comment, publish a company review, rate a platform, or otherwise interact with the website.

Contact form submissions

The contact form may collect your first and last name, email address, message, and any information you voluntarily include. Forms are processed through WPForms. Depending on the active WPForms configuration, a submission may also include technical details such as the submission date, IP address, browser, operating system, referring page, or anti-spam data.

Reviews, ratings, and comments

When you submit a review, rating, or comment, we may collect the name or display name you provide, email address, rating, review text, comment text, submission date, IP address, browser information, and moderation or verification records. The name or pseudonym, rating, and written content may be displayed publicly. Email addresses and IP addresses are not intended to be displayed publicly.

Correction and business inquiries

If you identify yourself as a company representative, publisher, journalist, or other professional contact, we may process your name, role, organization, business contact details, supporting documents, and correspondence for the purpose of reviewing and responding to the inquiry.

Do not submit passwords, payment-card information, account credentials, private customer records, government identification numbers, medical information, or other sensitive personal data through Ecom Reality forms, comments, or reviews.

2. Information collected automatically

When you access Ecom Reality, the website and its infrastructure may automatically process technical information needed to deliver pages and protect the service. This may include:

  • IP address and approximate network location;
  • browser type, operating system, device type, and language;
  • requested URL, referring URL, date, time, and response status;
  • cookie identifiers and security tokens;
  • performance, error, firewall, rate-limit, and bot-detection information;
  • interactions necessary to prevent spam or malicious submissions.

This information is generally used for website delivery, troubleshooting, security, fraud prevention, traffic management, and maintaining the integrity of forms, comments, and review systems.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

Ecom Reality may use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies that are necessary for WordPress functionality, administrator sessions, comment preferences, form security, fraud prevention, and delivery through the website’s infrastructure.

Examples may include:

  • WordPress login and administrative cookies for authorized site users;
  • comment cookies that remember a commenter’s name or email when the commenter chooses that option;
  • security, load-balancing, firewall, and bot-management cookies used by Cloudflare or another infrastructure provider;
  • temporary form or anti-spam tokens used to distinguish legitimate submissions from automated abuse.

If Ecom Reality later introduces optional analytics, advertising, personalization, or other non-essential cookies, the relevant disclosure and consent controls should be updated before those technologies are used where consent is required.

4. Why information is processed

Personal information may be processed for the following purposes:

  • to receive, review, and respond to messages;
  • to investigate factual corrections and technical problems;
  • to moderate, verify, publish, edit, anonymize, or remove reviews and comments;
  • to prevent spam, impersonation, fraud, abuse, and security incidents;
  • to maintain website availability and diagnose errors;
  • to document editorial correspondence and company responses;
  • to comply with legal obligations and protect legal rights;
  • to improve the clarity, reliability, and functionality of the website.

Legal bases where applicable. Depending on the jurisdiction and context, processing may be based on your consent, steps taken at your request, compliance with a legal obligation, or legitimate interests in operating an editorial website, responding to readers, protecting the service, preventing abuse, and maintaining accurate records. Where consent is the legal basis, you may withdraw it prospectively.

5. WordPress, WPForms, and email delivery

Ecom Reality is built with WordPress and uses plugins to provide publishing, forms, moderation, search-engine metadata, security, and other website functions. Information submitted through WPForms may be stored in the WordPress database, transmitted to site administrators by email, or both, depending on the form configuration.

Email notifications and replies may pass through the hosting environment and the email-delivery provider configured for the website. Email providers process message content and addressing information as necessary to transmit, filter, store, and secure email communications.

WordPress and installed plugins may also provide administrative tools for exporting or erasing personal data. The availability and scope of those tools depend on the information stored by WordPress and each plugin.

6. Cloudflare and website infrastructure

Ecom Reality uses Cloudflare for services that may include DNS, content delivery, caching, traffic routing, performance, firewall protection, rate limiting, and bot or abuse detection. Requests to the website may therefore pass through Cloudflare’s network before reaching the hosting server.

Cloudflare may process IP addresses, request headers, security events, device or browser information, cookies, and traffic metadata to provide these services. Cloudflare’s processing is also governed by its own privacy documentation and contractual terms.

You can review the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

7. Google Fonts

Some Ecom Reality pages request the Lato font through the Google Fonts service. When a browser retrieves a stylesheet or font file from Google, technical information such as the visitor’s IP address, browser details, requested resource, and request time may be transmitted to Google as part of the network request.

Google processes information under its own privacy terms. You can review the Google Privacy Policy.

Where local hosting of fonts is implemented, the browser may no longer need to contact Google for those font files.

8. Public content and moderation

Reviews, ratings, comments, company responses, and similar submissions may be intended for public display. Once published, that content may be read, copied, quoted, indexed by search engines, archived, or shared by other people and services.

Ecom Reality may moderate submissions to prevent spam, impersonation, unlawful content, personal-data exposure, irrelevant promotion, manipulation, duplicate reviews, or other abuse. Moderation may involve reviewing technical submission data and maintaining internal records of decisions.

Requests to edit, anonymize, or remove public content will be assessed in light of applicable law, editorial integrity, the public record, verification needs, and the rights of other people. Removal from Ecom Reality does not guarantee immediate removal from search-engine caches or third-party archives.

9. When information may be shared

Ecom Reality may disclose personal information only when reasonably necessary to:

  • operate the website through hosting, content-delivery, email, form, security, and technical service providers;
  • investigate security incidents, spam, fraud, impersonation, or misuse;
  • comply with a valid legal request, court order, or applicable law;
  • establish, exercise, or defend legal claims;
  • protect the rights, safety, or property of Ecom Reality, its readers, contributors, or other people;
  • complete a legitimate reorganization, transfer, or change in website ownership, subject to appropriate safeguards.

Service providers are expected to process information only for the services they provide and according to their applicable agreements and privacy obligations.

10. No sale of personal information

Ecom Reality does not sell personal information. It also does not knowingly share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. External links, platform references, or commercial relationships do not give the referenced company access to contact-form entries, private email addresses, or unpublished review data unless disclosure is specifically required to resolve a request and is legally permitted.

11. Data retention

Information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including editorial review, correspondence, moderation, security, dispute resolution, record keeping, and legal compliance.

The retention period depends on the type of information:

  • contact and correction correspondence may be retained while the request is active and for a reasonable period afterward;
  • published reviews and comments may be retained while they remain part of the public editorial record;
  • unpublished, rejected, or spam submissions may be retained temporarily for moderation and abuse prevention;
  • server, firewall, and security logs may be retained according to hosting, Cloudflare, and security-provider settings;
  • information relevant to a legal dispute, fraud investigation, or compliance obligation may be retained for a longer period.

When information is no longer needed, it may be deleted, anonymized, or securely overwritten according to the capabilities of the systems involved.

12. International processing

Ecom Reality and its service providers may process information in countries other than the country where a visitor is located. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. Where required, providers may rely on contractual safeguards, adequacy decisions, or another lawful transfer mechanism.

13. Security

Reasonable administrative and technical measures are used to protect information against unauthorized access, misuse, alteration, disclosure, or loss. These measures may include access controls, HTTPS encryption in transit, backups, updates, firewall services, spam controls, and security monitoring.

No website, database, email system, or method of internet transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. Visitors should therefore avoid sending unnecessary or sensitive information.

14. Your privacy rights

Depending on your location and the applicable law, you may have some or all of the following rights:

  • request confirmation of whether personal information is processed;
  • request access to personal information and information about its use;
  • request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • request deletion or anonymization in applicable circumstances;
  • object to or request restriction of certain processing;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
  • request a portable copy of eligible information;
  • submit a complaint to an applicable data-protection authority;
  • exercise applicable rights without unlawful discrimination.

To protect visitors and contributors, Ecom Reality may request information necessary to verify identity, confirm control of the relevant email address, or identify the content or submission involved. A request may be limited or refused where permitted by law, including when information must be retained for legal claims, security, freedom of expression, or the rights of other people.

15. Children’s privacy

Ecom Reality is directed to a general adult audience and is not designed for children under 16. We do not knowingly request personal information from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child has submitted personal information may contact us to request review and deletion.

16. External websites

Ecom Reality links to ecommerce platforms, documentation, research, social networks, and other external websites. Those websites control their own data practices. This Privacy Policy does not govern information collected after you leave Ecom Reality or interact directly with an external service.

17. Changes to this Privacy Policy

This policy may be updated when website features, plugins, infrastructure, legal requirements, or data practices change. Material revisions will be reflected by updating the date at the top of the page. Previous wording may not remain publicly available unless required by law or maintained for internal records.
